Should you shift your trading strategy as the market goes up?

The Week

I make money no matter which way the Market is trending – up, down, sideways. However, I mentally say “yeah” when I see the Market going up. That is a little crazy because I actually make better returns in a down Market. I think it is just human nature to want to go up; to feel you are getting somewhere; that you are getting better. An up Market makes me feel that way. I know – a little crazy thinking.

That said, money has FINALLY started flowing back into the Market. The Accumulation/Distribution has been at D’s and E’s since last November. Comparatively, there was not much money in the Market and definitely no additional funds were flowing in. All that changed this past week. On Tuesday money started flowing in and the Market is at C’s. That is big news and will require a mind shift by traders.

The road up may be a little rocky and fraught with surprises. But I do believe we are going to see some nice price moves up this summer. My newest watchlist will have Tickers that take advantage of the upswing.

How did I do?

Pretty darn good. Trading has been a lot less stressful this week. I didn’t trade a lot of positions but had a 10.1% gain for the week. We are at the beginning of the earnings announcement cycle so there weren’t a lot of new positions to look at. I believe there will be many more tickers to trade in the next few weeks.
